One of the most common things we hear from brides after the wedding is that they wish they had started the morning earlier. A wedding morning timeline solves that problem before it happens. Here is how to build one specifically for a Yuba City wedding.
Start With Your Ceremony Time
Every timeline builds backward from the ceremony. Write down your ceremony start time and then work back from there.
Most brides want to be completely ready, including dressed and with a moment to breathe, at least 30 to 45 minutes before the ceremony. That is your target finish time.
If your ceremony is at 3:00 p.m. and you want to be ready by 2:15 p.m., you are working with a 2:15 p.m. finish time. Everything else gets built back from that.
Account for Where You Are Getting Ready
Yuba City brides get ready in a range of locations: hotel suites near the venue, private homes, on-site bridal suites, and off-site properties that require travel to the ceremony location. If your getting-ready location is separate from your ceremony venue, build that travel time into the plan.
A 20-minute drive means 20 minutes of time that cannot be used for getting ready. If you need to leave by 2:00 p.m. and the drive is 20 minutes, your actual ready time is closer to 1:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., which backs up your start times further.
How Long Each Service Takes
These are general estimates. Your artist will give you precise times based on your specific party.
- Bridal hair and makeup: 2.5 to 3.5 hours
- Bridesmaid hair and makeup: 1.5 to 2 hours per person
- Hair only: 45 to 60 minutes per person
- Makeup only: 45 to 60 minutes per person
The bride typically goes last so her look is freshest for the ceremony and first look. That means all party members need to be finished before the bride’s artist starts on her.
A Sample Timeline for a Yuba City Wedding
Here is what a realistic timeline might look like for a bride with four bridesmaids, one artist, and a 3:00 p.m. ceremony:
| Time | Service |
|---|---|
| 8:00 a.m. | Bridesmaid 1 begins hair and makeup |
| 9:45 a.m. | Bridesmaid 2 begins hair and makeup |
| 11:30 a.m. | Bridesmaid 3 begins hair and makeup |
| 12:00 p.m. | Second artist begins Bridesmaid 4 |
| 12:30 p.m. | Bride begins hair and makeup |
| 2:00 p.m. | Bride complete, everyone ready |
| 2:15 p.m. | Portraits, first look, family photos |
| 2:45 p.m. | Depart for venue (or already on-site) |
| 3:00 p.m. | Ceremony |
This is a simplified example. Your actual timeline will depend on your party size, service mix, and venue logistics.
Blushed Tip: Build at least 30 minutes of buffer into your morning. Something will run over. That buffer prevents one delay from cascading through the whole schedule.
What Blushed Brides Does With Your Timeline
When you book with us, we build the full beauty timeline for you. We ask for your ceremony time, party size, services for each person, and any hard deadlines like a first look or family portraits. We calculate the schedule from there and send it to you for review before the wedding.
You share the individual call times with your party. We show up at the agreed-upon time and work through the schedule. The morning runs without the guesswork.
Common Timeline Mistakes to Avoid
Not accounting for hair washing and drying. If bridesmaids need to wash their hair the morning of, that adds time. We generally recommend clean, dry hair for all party members on the wedding morning.
Forgetting to eat. Schedule a time for the bride and party to eat breakfast. Trying to eat in the chair or going without food makes for a difficult morning.
Leaving no time between ready and ceremony. Even 20 minutes to take a breath, check your dress, and have a moment before walking down the aisle is worth building in.
